Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico)
Having made headlines within the Boston organization regarding taking a trip to the island to play, Kristian Campbell concluded his play in the league with some solid results. In 14 games, Campbell posted a .245/.403/.367 statline in 62 plate appearances while adding four doubles, a triple, six runs batted in and a pair of stolen bases. He also walked 13 times while striking out 12 times along with seeing time in the outfield.
While there was an apparent change to Campbell's swing and surely other adjustments made since the end of the Minor League season, MassLive's Chris Cotillo points out that the Red Sox are not concerned with what Campbell's stats look like.
With the league's regular season ending on Sunday, Jovani Moran made an impression for Criollos de Caguas on the mound. In nine innings, the left-hander struck out 12, only walked four and posted a 1.00 ERA to go along with a 0.89 WHIP. Moran was acquired by the Red Sox last winter in a trade with the Twins that sent Mickey Gasper to Minnesota. Wyatt Olds also pitched for Criollos de Caguas and posted a 6.57 ERA in 12.1 innings with 15 strikeouts and eight walks. To round out the Red Sox farmhands, Osvaldo Berrios recorded a 5.71 ERA in 17.1 frames with Gigantes de Carolina while Eduardo Rivera had a 3.00 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 15 innings with Cangrejeros de Santurce.
Along with Campbell, Juan Montero was the only other Red Sox hitting prospect in the league. The catcher appeared in seven games for Leones de Ponce, hitting .222 with no home runs or runs batted in.
