Kyle Stowers 2025 Season Review
Back in 2023, we slotted Kyle Stowers 111th in our Fantasy Outfield Rankings, observing that he was a slow climber, but could deliver value if the walk rate he displayed in the minors followed him to the Show.
Well, flash forward a couple of years and it’s been a slow progression. He barely played for the Orioles in 2023 as he bounced back and forth between B-More and Triple-A. Stowers again didn’t make the big league squad out of Spring Training in 2024, but he certainly hit well in his limited action once he was finally recalled. Yet, once again, he rode the Baltimore-Norfolk shuttle until the O’s opted to move him to Miami at the trade deadline in the Trevor Rogers deal.
Mixed Results After the Trade
The move south offered some good (a legitimate extended look) and some bad (he was somewhat productive, but mostly scuffled).
Stowers finally put it all together in 2025, flashing improved hitting, a major power spike and better contact. Hell, he even pitched in with the first five steals of his MLB career.
Unfortunately, Stowers missed the final quarter of the schedule with an oblique injury, the only blemish on an otherwise splendid breakout campaign.
He’s set to resume the starting left field job for the Fish this spring, but his advanced stats suggest there could be some regression… not a ton, but enough for us to warn you to not invest with the expectation that he’ll to top his 2025 production.
Miami really nailed it with this acquisition; with Connor Norby being the key piece of the return for Rogers, Stowers was supposed to be throw-in, and look what happened. Stowers bagged his first All-Star appearance last year and became of the top Fantasy surprises of the season. Not bad for a dude that Marlins’ fans were disenchanted with just a year ago.
For 2026, Stowers is probably just outside the top 50 among Fantasy outfielder options, going inside the top 130 overall. You know he’s going to play given Miami’s paucity of power, so if you need pop on your team, he’ll help you with 30 dingers or more. And assuming Stowers maintains his 2025 strikeout rate, he likely won’t slip far below the .270 BA range, so that combo definitely offers some value.
At the end of the day, he’s all about the power (see video below). Stowers’ strong walk rate makes him a better asset in OBP leagues, but he won’t help you much in the steals department.
Never a top prospect (in 2022, he was ranked eighth in the Oriole system), he has that classic late-bloomer vibe, but that obviously caps his upside (if any) and casts doubt about the sustainability of his breakout.
