Baseball5 to make historic debut at South East Asian Games
Baseball5 will reach another major milestone in its rapid global rise as it debuts at the South East Asian (SEA) Games Thailand 2025 on Thursday. The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC)’s fast-paced street discipline will appear for the first time in a senior multi-sport event when competition opens with Indonesia playing Malaysia at 10:00 on 11 December.
The tournament will be held at the multi-purpose hall of the Sports Authority of Thailand Sports Complex in Ramkhamhaeng, Bangkok. Four nations — World No. 15 Malaysia, No. 18 Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam — will compete in a single round robin from 11 to 13 December. The top two teams will advance to the Gold Medal Game, while the third- and fourth-place finishers will meet in the Bronze Medal Game, both scheduled for 14 December.

The SEA Games appearance is the latest step in a succession of multi-sport inclusions for Baseball5, following its presence at the Youth Bolivarian Games Sucre 2024. The discipline is also set to feature at the Mediterranean Games 2026 (as a demonstration sport) and the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026.
For the first time since the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, all four WBSC disciplines — Men’s Baseball, Men’s Softball, Women’s Softball and Baseball5 — will award medals at the same multi-sport event. While Baseball competition runs until 12 December, the Men’s and Women’s Softball tournaments will take place from 15 to 19 December.
The SEA Games, held every two years, bring together the National Olympic Committees of 11 Southeast Asian nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.
