Report: Mets Showing Interest in Trevor Megill
The Mets are among several teams showing an interest in Brewers closer Trevor Megill, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported Monday. The Yankees and other teams Sherman didn’t name are calling Milwaukee as well.

Megill, 32, the older brother of Tylor Megill, went 6-3 with a 2.49 ERA and 1.13 WHIP this season. He saved 30 games in 36 chances and struck out 60 in 47 innings. He missed nearly all of September with a right flexor strain, but returned to pitch one game at the end of the regular season and gave up one run in five playoff appearances. He’s got a hellacious four-seam/knuckle curve combo out of the ‘pen.
If the Mets added Megill to the bullpen, it could mean they are moving on from Edwin Díaz.
David Stearns told reporters Monday in Orlando, Fla., for the winter meetings that he was excited about the signing of Devin Williams and that the bullpen is still a work in progress. Stearns and manager Carlos Mendoza had plenty more to say to the media on a wide range of topics that you can read about here.
It has been previously reported that the Brewers are listening to offers on ace Freddy Peralta, which continues to be the case, Sherman reported. Stearns acquired Peralta from the Mariners when he was with the Brewers in 2015 in what may have been his best move in Milwaukee.
