Morning Briefing: Mets Will Not Be Bringing Helsley Back
Good morning, Mets fans!
It was reported on Saturday by Jeff Passan of ESPN that closer Ryan Helsley — who became a free agent on Nov. 2 after joining the Mets from the Cardinals in July — is in agreement with the Baltimore Orioles on a two-year contract with an opt-out after the first season, pending a physical. Helsley had interest from teams to become a starter, but it is likely he will be the ninth-inning pitcher for the Orioles.
Helsley posted a 7.20 ERA in 22 games with the Mets.
