LA28 schedule update: New start date for Baseball; Softball featured in Super Saturday
The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics Organising Committee unveiled the Olympic competition schedule by event, outlining when every medal event will take place during the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles, with details across all confirmed sports and venues.
The LA28 baseball competition at Dodger Stadium will begin on Thursday, 13 July, 2028, the day before the Games' Opening Ceremony. It will then pause one day on 14 July for the Opening Ceremony and resume on 15 July, running through to 19 July.

The breakdown of the tournament sees the Group Stage of the Baseball tournament take place from 13 July to 16 July followed by the Knockout Stage - consisting of Quarterfinals (Monday, July 17), Semifinals (Tuesday, July 18), and Medal Games (Wednesday, July 19) at 11:00 and 19:00 (LA Time).
Six teams will participate in the baseball tournament. The participants will split into two groups. The second and third-place finishers after the Group Stage will compete in the Quarterfinals, with the first-place finishers advancing directly to the Semifinals, where they will face the winners of the Quarterfinals. The winners of the Semifinals will play for gold, while the losers will compete for bronze.

Meanwhile, the Softball finals will feature as part of Super Saturday on 29 July (Day 15), which is set to be the single most action-packed day of the LA28 Games.
As one of the most memorable final weekends in Olympic medal history, Super Saturday will feature 26 finals sessions across 23 sports. This includes 15 gold and bronze medal team sport matches, alongside finals for 15 individual sports, with Olympic champions to be named in Softball, Artistic Swimming, Athletics (Marathon), Basketball, Beach Volleyball, BMX Freestyle, Boxing, Canoe Sprint, Cricket, Cycling Track, Equestrian, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Wrestling and Weightlifting.

The softball tournament will begin on Sunday, 23 July, at Devon Park in Oklahoma City with the Group Stage, consisting of a single six-team group, running through to Thursday, 27 July.
At the end of the Group Stage, the top two finishers will play for gold, while the third and fourth-place teams will compete for bronze. The Bronze Medal Game is scheduled for Friday, 28 July, while the Gold Medal Game is scheduled for Saturday, 29 July at a new time of 09:00am (Oklahoma time).
