The offseason begins next week. The Phillies will have decisions to make on options for José Alvarado and Harrison Bader. Kyle Schwarber and Ranger Suárez will receive a qualifying offer. Both are expected to reject it. Players can officially begin signing with other teams five days after the conclusion of the World Series.

We know that retaining Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, Ranger Suárez and Harrison Bader are the priority for the Phillies, though it’s unlikely all four are re-signed. Other Phillies could be on the move.

Here are our early Phillies offseason predictions.

Destiny Lugardo — Site Director — Phillies sign a former Dodgers reliever coming off injury

Cue the hysteria. It didn’t make much sense for the Phillies to take risks on bounce back relievers last year. They could have really used a sure thing, and they paid for it. Now, the Phillies head into the offseason with a good amount of bullpen depth and the closer role solidified. The Dodgers have a couple of right-handed free agent/non-tender candidates that could interest the Phillies. Michael Kopech will hit the market coming off shoulder and knee issues that limited him to just 14 appearances in 2025. Evan Phillips is a likely non-tender candidate. He’ll miss a good portion of 2026 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in May. He’ll likely sign a multi-year backloaded deal. Both were very good relievers before injury.

Ty Daubert — Editorial Director — Phillies trade or non-tender Alec Bohm

A year after the Phillies seemed poised to trade their starting third baseman, this could be the offseason that the club parts ways with Alec Bohm. The right-handed hitter’s production dipped after an All-Star season in 2024. He battled some injury issues. He had only 32 extra-base hits (11 home runs, 18 doubles and three triples) in 120 games.

Philadelphia could look to trade Bohm as part of a deal for a different major-league player or try to acquire a prospect in exchange for Bohm and replace his spot on the roster with a free agent. And if the Phillies can’t find a suitor for a trade, perhaps they could simply non-tender him. Bohm is projected to receive $10.3 million in his last year of arbitration in 2026, according to MLB Trade Rumors. More drastic cost-cutting measures have been taken.

Bailey Digh — Staff Writer — Phillies acquire Hunter Goodman from Rockies

The Phillies will have to be creative this offseason. Acquiring Goodman, who’s entering his age-26 season, would be just that. They need right-handed pop for the middle of their lineup, and the free-agent market won’t have much. Over the last two years, the Phillies ranked 17th (.414) and 20th (.408) in slugging percentage out of the four-hole. As a right-handed hitter, Goodman would help there. He slugged .520 with 31 home runs in 2025; his home-road power splits were nearly identical.

Goodman’s coming off an All-Star campaign in Colorado and was primarily a catcher. The Phillies are acquiring him to play right field in this exercise. It’s a position he has some experience at and one he’ll be below average at, but who cares. Goodman might be on the verge of becoming one of baseball’s premier sluggers. Maybe Colorado won’t want to trade a player like Goodman, but the Phillies have to take a shot like this this winter. Signing a veteran outfielder or two to one-year deals and hoping for upside won’t cut it.
