Alonso, Lindor and Soto Named Silver Slugger Finalists

The 2025 National League Silver Slugger finalists have been announced, and Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto are representing the Mets.

Alonso is among the top three first basemen, along with Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers and Matt Olson of the Braves. Alonso had another stellar offensive season, leading the league in doubles and breaking the team’s all-time home run total. Despite his consistent excellence offensively as a Met, Alonso has yet to win the award.

Lindor on the other hand is hoping to win it for the third straight season, and fifth time in his career. Lindor posted once again, slashing .267/.346/.466, playing in all but two games. Lindor also had another 30/30 season, which would have been his third straight as a Met, if he had not gotten injured late in the 2024 season, finishing one stolen base short.

Lindor’s opponents for the award are Trea Turner of the Phillies and Geraldo Perdomo of the Diamondbacks.

Soto led the league in on-base percentage with what is an absurdly career-low .396. The Mets’ right fielder broke the team’s single-season record with 127 walks, and added 43 home runs and 38 stolen bases to boot. Soto also led the NL with 7.0 offensive bWAR.

Corbin Carroll of the Dbacks, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker of the Cubs, Kyle Stowers of the Marlins and James Wood of the Nationals are the other outfield finalists.

The other NL finalists named are Nico Hoerner, Ketel Marte and Brice Turang at second base, Matt Chapman, Austin Riley, Manny Machado and Max Muncy at third, William Contreras, Hunter Goodman and Will Smith at catcher, Shohei Ohtani, Christian Yelich and Kyle Schwarber at DH, and Alec Burleson, Jake Cronenworth and Brendan Donovan as utility players.

The Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Cubs are the three NL finalists for the team Silver Slugger award.

The winners will be announced on November 6.
