WBSC Congress unanimously approves Athletes Declaration
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Congress has unanimously approved the WBSC Athletes Declaration, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to the integrity, welfare, and empowerment of athletes across baseball, softball, and Baseball5.
The Declaration underscores the values that define WBSC athletes: integrity, fair play, health, and respect. It establishes them as ambassadors for clean and fair sport, champions of healthy lifestyles, and advocates for the prevention of competition manipulation and strong safeguarding measures.
Baseball, Softball, and Baseball5 athletes also stand for freedom of expression, promoting inclusivity and unity both on and off the field.
The WBSC Athletes Declaration reinforces the role of athletes as central figures in the Confederation’s governance and development. Their elected representatives serve as a direct link between the WBSC and the athlete community, participating in global initiatives, summits, and outreach activities to strengthen engagement among players and fans.
The WBSC Athletes Commission plays a vital role in advocating for athletes’ interests, including education, personal development, and the pursuit of dual careers beyond competition.
Ayako Rokkaku (Japan) and Randolph Oduber (Aruba), the Athletes Representatives on the WBSC Executive Board, presented the Commission’s activities and priorities during the 6th WBSC Congress. They highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance athlete representation at every level of the organisation and the importance of ensuring athletes’ voices remain integral to WBSC decision-making.
The unanimous approval of the Declaration marks a milestone in the WBSC’s continuous work to empower athletes and safeguard their rights, reflecting the Confederation’s vision of a global community built on integrity, respect, and opportunity.
