Meanwhile, the Padres beat the Rockies 10-8. They had entered the day tied with the Mets for the second Wild Card, so the Mets slid back down to the third spot.

The Mets now trail the Phillies by seven games in the division after Philadelphia defeated the Marlins 4-2.

They’ll play the rubber game against the Reds today at 1:40 p.m. ET with Brandon Sproat making his MLB debut against Hunter Greene (5-4, 2.70 ERA).
