A Dozen For Jackson
The Baltimore Orioles defeated the San Diego Padres (76-62) 4-3 on Monday afternoon in Petco Park. The two teams traded runs in both the second and fifth innings before Baltimore took the lead in the seventh inning and the bullpen took it from there and made the score hold up.
Jeremiah Jackson went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI in extending his hitting streak to twelve games. He hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning off of San Diego’s Dylan Cease.
Samuel Basallo hit a pair of doubles and knocked in 2 runs in 4 at-bats. His second inning double knocked in Dylan Beavers who had hit a one-out single and Dylan Carlson, who drew a walk; both players advanced a base on a wild pitch by Cease.
Beavers went 2 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI, knocking in J. Jackson with what proved to be the winning run, on a seventh inning single.
Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, Emmanuel Rivera and Coby Mayo each recorded a hit off Padres’ pitching.
Making his second start following a return from right elbow surgery, Kyle Bradish scattered 4 hits over 4.0 innings, allowed 2 runs, walked 2 and struck out 5. He did however, throw 84 pitches (51 K’s) in doing so.
After the game Bradish had this to say about his performance, “Obviously that first start was a lot better. I felt like I was just battling command. I was getting ahead in counts and letting them back in or I was pitching behind in counts and letting them foul off a lot of balls. It’s a good hitting team. Obviously, I didn’t have my A stuff today, but I was able to battle through four, gave up two runs.”
Monday’s winning pitcher, Dietrich Enns (2-2), gave the Orioles a solid 2.1 innings of relief, allowing a run on 2 hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Rico Garcia looked solid as well, striking out 2 batters over 1.2 innings while Keegan Akin allowed a one-out single and struck out Luis Arraez in the ninth inning to end the game.
Cease, who is not pitching up to his standards, matched Bradish by allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks and 7 strike outs over 4.0 innings.
San Diego’s Jason Adam (8-4) not only took the loss but at the very least, ended his 2025 season when he ruptured the quadricep tendon in his left leg while throwing a pitch to Henderson in the seventh inning.
Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 3 with a walk and Ramon Laureano went 1 for 3 with a RBI against their former team.
2025 Record: 62-76
