Morning Briefing: Another Blown Lead Haunts Mets
Good morning, Mets fans!
It was a familiar story for the Mets on Wednesday: a promising start doomed by a blown lead. They were up 6-0 through two innings against former Met Carlos Carrasco, but David Peterson and Reed Garrett combined to give up nine runs in the fourth inning.
The Mets lost to the Braves, 11-6. It was their 12th loss in their last 14 games. And it continued an ugly trend of recent blown leads. Per the SNY broadcast, this was the first time in Mets history that they’ve had a four-run lead or more in three straight games and blown it each time.
Cincinnati is just one game behind New York for the third Wild Card spot now.
The Mets will try to take the rubber game against Atlanta at 7:10 p.m. ET on Thursday. Kodai Senga takes the mound against Bryce Elder.
