Five Mets Crack Multiple Top 100 Prospect Lists

0 3

More good news comes from the Mets’ farm system. On the heels of Sunday night’s promotion-palooza for SS Jett Williams, OF Carson Benge, RHP Jonah Tong and 1B/OF Ryan Clifford (among more!), Benge, Nolan McLean, Tong, Williams and Brandon Sproat were named to Baseball America’s 2025 Top 100 Prospect List.

MLB Pipeline also released their updated Top 100 Prospect List Monday, with four Mets in the top 44: Carson Benge (the new No. 1 Mets’ prospect per Pipeline) at No. 20, Jett Williams at No. 30, Nolan McLean at No. 37 and Jonah Tong at No. 44. Check out Pipeline’s updated Top 30 Mets’ Prospect here.

On Baseball America’s list, Carson Benge was also the Mets’ highest-ranked prospect at No. 33, and McLean followed at No. 40. Tong came in at No. 43, with Williams behind at No. 55. Rounding out the list, Sproat ranked at No. 99.

Konnor Griffin of the Pirates was dubbed the new No. 1 prospect in baseball on both Pipeline’s and Baseball America’s list.

In his first minor league season, Benge has been the clear breakout position player in the Mets’ farm system. He began the season with the St. Lucie Mets and quickly rose through the ranks to a promotion to Triple-A Syracuse. He’s hitting .303/.414/.502 with a .916 OPS between two levels with 12 home runs, 24 doubles, six triples and 60 RBIs.

Like Benge, Tong is the Mets’ pitching breakout prospect in 2025. After posting a 6.06 ERA and 3.03 ERA in his first two minor league campaigns, Tong has pitched to a ridiculous 1.59 ERA in Double-A Binghamton. He leads the minor leagues in strikeouts (162), which is among 276 qualified players across every level.

Five Mets prospects showing up on these lists is a positive sign. If they remain on either Baseball America’s, Pipeline’s, or ESPN’s preseason Top 100 prospect lists (or if anyone else were to join them), the Mets may be inclined to have one or more of those players start with the big league club in 2026.

If one of these players were to play the full year in 2026 and win Rookie of the Year, the Mets would receive an extra draft pick. It’s part of MLB’s prospect promotion incentive. Both Corbin Carroll and Gunnar Henderson won their respective Rookie of the Year Awards, and the Diamondbacks and Orioles received an extra draft pick in the next season’s Draft.
