Mariners fans, it’s official: Cal Raleigh is your 2025 Home Run Derby Champion. Cal becomes just the 8th Mariner to participate and only the second to win the whole thing, and the first primary catcher to win the derby as well. With just 14 home runs and a single inch of distance, Cal Raleigh cleared the rest of the field to take home the hardware. There are often worries that the derby can affect a player's swing, but considering all of Cal’s hits so far in July have been home runs, I feel like he doesn’t have anything to worry about.

Speaking of the home run derby, last we spoke, I had some questions for you all on if Cal has a shot at winning the whole thing:

It turns out that just over half of all respondents didn’t think Cal could pull it off. Well, to the doubters and naysayers, I hope you enjoy that humble pie you're eating.

I also wanted to know what fans thought about including Julio Rodriguez in the All-Star roster. While Julio has been having a solid season, was it really all-star caliber? Most fans didn’t think so:

While it was still a close vote, most fans seemed to think Julio did not deserve a spot on the all-star roster this year. I tend to agree; listen, I like Juilo a lot. I actually think he has looked much better at the plate than in previous seasons, but the stats don’t seem to reflect that. If you disagree, tell me why I’m wrong in the comments below!

Often, I find myself thinking of the MLB All-Star game as the best in all organized sports. Unlike the NFL, it has stakes and meaning, unlike the NBA, where the side content is entertaining, and unlike the NHL, where people actually watch it. But I’d like to see what other people think.
