Five Mets Prospects Ranked in Top 60 From Baseball Prospectus
Baseball Prospectus on Wednesday released their midseason Top-50 and four Mets prospects sit in the top 50 at the halfway point, with five total in the top 60.
- 17 – Jett Williams, SS
- 20 – Jonah Tong, RHP
- 32 – Carson Benge, OF
- 34 – Nolan McLean, RHP
The next 10 group (making it a top 60 really)
- 52 – Jacob Reimer, 3B
In order to be eligible for the Top-50 list, Baseball Prospectus requires players to “be in the minor leagues or have been drafted by the time of the release of the list and must maintain rookie eligibility if they have appeared in the majors on both innings/ at-bats, as well as service days.”
No. 17 – Jett Williams, SS/2B/CF
Baseball Prospectus ranked Williams at No. 17 for his pull-side power and ability to get on base. Through the halfway point of the season at Double-A Binghamton, Williams, the Mets’ top prospect is batting .288/.396/.495, with a .891 OPS. He has hit 24 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, and driven in 31 RBIs and 52 runs scored. A threat on the base pads, Williams has walked 49 times and stolen 26 bases. He also ranks second in the Mets organization for wRC+ at 164.
Williams’ season started slow, but he has heated up through June and July. He has played shortstop (46 games), center field (14 games) and second base (11 games) this season.

No. 20 – Jonah Tong, RHP
Tong has recorded his best season to date through the first half of 2025. Baseball Prospectus calls his fastball one of the “highest-carrying” in the minor leagues, sitting in the mid-90s more consistently this season than last year. His changeup gets a lot of swings and misses, and he has great spin on his curveball. These three pitches have led to 41% of opposing batters in the Double-A Eastern League striking out against Tong.
The No. 2 Mets prospect is 6-4 with a 1.83 ERA. Through 78 2/3 innings, he has struck out 125, which leads all of minor league baseball through the first half. He recorded two games where he struck out 11 in June, and he struck out 10 during his start on the Fourth of July. He has given up no more than two earned runs and four hits per start since April. Tong has electric stuff and is locked in right now.
A 2025 Futures Game competitor, Tong recorded a 1-2-3 inning during the 2025 All-Star Futures Game. He threw 19 pitches in the game (11 for strikes) and struck out one on a 97 mph fastball.
No. 32 – Carson Benge, OF
Benge is a very well-rounded athlete with a full repertoire of skills and characteristics. Baseball Prospectus describes him as being smart at the plate, making great decisions when he’s at the plate, has a strong ability to put the bat on the ball, and when he does make contact, it’s hard contact, not weak. While he needs to improve on putting the ball in the air and giving it lift time, his swing still has room to develop and scouts predict this is an area he will improve upon.
Benge, drafted in the first round (No. 19 overall) of the 2024 MLB draft, is batting an impressive .302/.422/.485, with a .907 OPS on the season between single-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton. However, in 60 games at Brooklyn and 13 games in Binghamton, his average was .302 in both levels.
The Mets’ No. 3 prospect is dominating to start his Double-A career. He is batting .302/.444/.512, with a .956 OPS. He has three doubles, two home runs, 11 walks, seven RBIs, and 10 runs scored in just 13 games with Binghamton.
Benge ranks No. 1 in wRC+ among all of minor league baseball players (min. 300 plate appearances) at No. 168. He also participated in the Futures Game, going 0-for-1.
No. 34 – Nolan McLean, RHP
His sweeper is known as one of the “nastiest” in the minors with “over 15 inches of horizontal movement,” and great spin. His four-seam fastball and sinker sit in the mid-90s, and he’s got a great feel for his curveball, slider, and splitter as well.
McLean, the former two-way player, has been focused solely on pitching for just over a calendar year.
So far with Triple-A Syracuse in 2025, the 23-year-old is 6-5 with a 2.17 ERA. Over the course of 87 innings pitched, he has recorded 95 strikeouts and has a 1.17 WHIP.
McLean was Syracuse’s strikeout leader in June with 23 strikeouts.
No. 52 – Jacob Reimer, 3B
Just outside of the top 50, Baseball Prospectus ranked the corner infielder at No. 52.
Between High-A Brooklyn and Double-A, Reimer is hitting .278/.375/.493, with a .868 OPS. He has 21 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 32 walks, with 39 RBIs and 52 runs scored.
Reimer has played in 17 games with Double-A Binghamton and has three doubles, three home runs, walked four times, and driven in 11 RBIs and five runs scored over his first few weeks in Double-A.
Minor League Baseball action resumes with the second half of the season on Friday, July 18.
