Kansas City is 7-2 in July.

Salvador Perez and Jac Caglianone hit bombs to key last night’s win:

“To turn the game like that with big swings and provide some slug for the offense is huge,” said starter Kris Bubic, who allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings. “I know we don’t tend to hit a ton of homers here, but those guys can hit them out anywhere. To see them step up in big situations — Jac hits the ball harder than anybody, so we knew that was coming.

“And Salvy, time and time again coming up in clutch situations. It doesn’t surprise us one bit.”

It was a whirlwind 24 hours for Cam Devanney after he was called up to the majors:

Shannon DiGrazio, Devanney’s girlfriend, was with him when Jirschele delivered the news. Devanney’s first call was to his mom, Chris, who immediately set the travel plans in motion to get herself, Cam’s dad and younger sister, McKenna, from New Hampshire to Kansas City The couple in Omaha didn’t get much sleep — DiGrazio estimated maybe three hours total, which she attributed to the adrenaline. By 8 a.m. Tuesday, they were on the road to Kauffman Stadium.

Craig Brown at Into the Fountains highlights big moments from Tuesday’s win, including Jac Caglianone’s first Kauffman Stadium homer:

Peep those metrics above. The ball left the bat with a launch angle of 19 degrees. That’s an absolute laser. Home runs just aren’t hit with that kind of arc. It was the 40th home run in the majors this year with a launch angle of 19 degrees or less.

This is what Caglianone can do. While I continue to beat the drum of concern about how the Royals are handling him, I remain optimistic about his future. He can, as we have seen three times now, obliterate baseballs. He just needs to adapt and make adjustments. The game is a lot different from the one he was playing in Northwest Arkansas to open the year and then for a couple of weeks in Omaha.

Noah Cameron was as sharp as ever on Monday, per Kevin O’Brien at The Royals Reporter:

Against a Pirates offense that has been a bit of a rollercoaster, Cameron produced a 34.5% chase rate and 31% whiff rate. On a whiff rate end, his curveball (83.3%) and changeup (57.1%) were his best offerings. In terms of xwOBCON, he did an excellent job minimizing hard contact with his four-seamer (.257), which also was his most-thrown offering (34.9% usage) on Monday.
