2025 MLB Draft: Everything to know about the Rays picks and how to watch
We’ll have all the coverage you need here, starting with this article.
The Tampa Bay Rays are primed for another big draft for 2025, with six picks on Day 1 of the MLB Draft on Sunday Night: the team’s four standard picks through the first three rounds (with none surrendered in penalties for signing top free agents, duh), plus one as compensation for an undrafted player from 2024, and another acquired in an off-season trade of starter Jeffrey Springs.
Accordingly, the team has the second largest bonus pool this season, second only to the Mariners, with $16,699,400 available to spend.
For perspective, that’s more than triple the amount available to the Yankees and Mets. Indeed, the Rays first selection at No. 14 overall — awarded through the MLB lottery — has a slot value of $5,3 million which is equivalent to the entire pools for the teams from New York.
The Rays have three first round picks overall, including No. 14, No. 37 ($2.6 million slot) and No. 42 ($2.3 million slot, received from the Athletics in Jeffrey Springs trade) in Competitive Balance Round A.
Rays Selections
Pick - Round: Slot Value
14 - 1: $5,313,100
37 - 1A: $2,631,400

53 - 2: $1,803,500
67 - 2B: $1,285,400 (Compensation for 2024 Unsigned Draftee Tyler Bell)
86 - 3: $920,800
