Morning Briefing: Clayton Kershaw Joins 3,000-Strikeout Club

0 2

Good morning, Mets fans!

On Wednesday night, another Dodger made history, however, this time it wasn’t from their two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Instead, it was future Hall of Famer and lifelong Dodger Clayton Kershaw, who became the 20th member of the 3,000 strikeout club. The left-handed hurler also became only the fifth pitcher to tally all 3,000 strikeouts with one team as the MVP and three-time Cy Young Award winner continues to bolster his résumé.

In Mets land, things finally took a much-needed positive turn for the Amazin’s. After the bullpen, Reed Garrett in particular, collapsed in a 7-2 Mets loss in the first game of the doubleheader, the Mets would bounce back in the nightcap. Brandon Nimmo launched a second-inning grand slam, followed by a Lindor solo shot, which would put the Mets in front for good. Click here for the full game recap.

The Mets will now look to get the series win on Thursday as David Peterson (5-4, 3.30 ERA) will look to get back on track as he faces off against former Met Jose Quintana (6-2, 3.30 ERA) at 7:10 PM.
