Noah Schultz 13.50 ERA, 7 1⁄3 IP, 5 BB, 9 K (promoted to Charlotte on June 18)

The Knights had a solid month, going 14-11 to get back within a game of .500.

Brooks Baldwin, 24, won three consecutive weekly awards this month, so it is no surprise to see that he is the most valuable Knight of June — or the overall best of the White Sox minors this month. Baldwin’s season sure has been interesting, as he has dominated Triple-A pitching while struggling immensely against MLB pitching. Baldwin has made some huge strides since being drafted in the 12th round in 2022. Only four players from the 12th round in that draft have made it to the majors, and Baldwin has gotten the most playing time among them. Baldwin’s performance in June was absolutely off the charts, and on July 1 the White Sox promoted him once again.

Colson Montgomery made a furious sprint to the finish line in June, and he had a 1.010 OPS for the month after really stumbling out of the starting blocks this season. However, his performance in May was much better, and he would have won the June monthly award if not for Baldwin’s excellence.

Tommy Vail 3.24 ERA, 25 IP, 13 BB, 18 K
Riley Gowens 5.11 ERA, 24 2⁄3 IP, 11 BB, 34 K

Dalton Roach 2.61 ERA, 10 1⁄3 IP, 3 BB, 12 K
Hagen Smith 0.00 ERA, 1 2⁄3 IP, 1 BB, 3 K

The Barons were decent in June, winning 14 of 26, which was not quite good enough to win the Southern League North division in the first half. However, overall the Barons have played a lot of solid baseball, and they again had many strong pitching performances.

Shane Murphy, 24, led the way, allowing only four runs across 30 2⁄3 dominant innings. Murphy started the season with the Dash, but he was promoted to Birmingham on April 27, and he has had no issues with the higher level. In 60 2⁄3 innings with the Barons, Murphy has posted a 1.48 ERA and a 2.91 FIP. Murphy’s strikeout rate is a decent 7.6 K/9, and his walk rate (1.2 BB/9) is fantastic. Murphy has also done a great job of preventing opposing hitters from making sharp contact.

Winston-Salem Dash

Sam Antonacci .286/.438/.444, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 10-for-12 stolen bases, 63 at-bats

Braden Montgomery .279/.326/.465, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 86 at-bats

Jackson Appel .342/.479/.342, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 38 at-bats
Jeral Perez .227/.269/.352, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 88 at-bats

Jack Bockenstedt 3.00 ERA, 24 IP, 11 BB, 23 K
Tanner McDougal 1.74 ERA, 10 1⁄3 IP, 7 BB, 13 K (promoted to Birmingham on June 18)
Phil Fox 0.84 ERA, 10 2⁄ IP, 0 BB, 13 K
Frankeli Arias 3.05 ERA, 20 2⁄ IP, 14 BB, 16 K
Christian Oppor 2.70 ERA, 16 2⁄ IP, 9 BB, 15 K

The Dash stayed afloat this month, going 10-14, which is decent when we consider the lack of top prospects on the team.

Sam Antonacci, 22, who plays second base and third base, made things very difficult for opponents this month. Antonacci was an on-base machine, finishing 18-for-63 with 11 walks. In addition, Antonacci was a menace after getting on base, swiping 10 bases in 12 attempts. Given Antonacci’s defensive value, his abilities on the base paths, and the way he comfortably led the team in OPS, he deserves this monthly honor. Incredibly, his OPS for the month (.882) is slightly lower than his overall OPS with the Dash (.889 in 52 games).

Among players with more than 50 at-bats with the Dash in June, Samuel Zavala (.792) and Braden Montgomery (.791) rounded out the podium. Zavala raced out of the gates, cruising to the first weekly Dash award of June without a close competitor. However, Zavala ran out of steam, and Antonacci finished strong.

Jonathan Clark 0.73 ERA, 12 1⁄3 IP, 6 BB, 14 K
Justin Sinibaldi 3.48 ERA, 20 2⁄ IP, 8 BB, 15 K

June did not go as planned for the Cannon Ballers, who lost 11 in a row at one point during an 8-17 month. As a result, Kannapolis fell out of contention in the Carolina League South for the first half of the season; the CBs had entered the month with an outside chance of winning the division.

Despite the team’s overall struggles, starting pitcher Luis Reyes, 19, was borderline unhittable. Reyes only allowed one run in 25 innings, and opponents slashed .153/.200/.224 against him. The losing streak really should have been snapped at eight, but the Cannon Ballers found a way to lose despite Reyes’ seven shutout innings on June 21. Reyes was very effective in all four of his starts in June, and he was a runaway choice for this award.

The ACL White Sox caught fire in June, winning 15 of 23 to climb to the top of the ACL West Division.

Outfielder Albertson Asigen, 23, only had 48 at-bats in June, but he made them count. Asigen posted a massive 1.200 OPS, as he was slicing the ball all over the place. Asigen hit two homers, three triples, and three doubles in June, as his bat was extremely impactful. Even when Asigen was not launching the ball, Asigen found ways to get on base, posting a .492 OBP for the month. Overall, Asigen is slashing .310/.438/.549 in 28 games this season, all with the ACL White Sox.

DSL White Sox

June record 10-10 Overall record 10-10

DSL Sox Player of the Month

Yobal Rodriguez 0.00 ERA, 18 2⁄3 IP, 3 BB, 17 K

Christian Gonzalez .474/.589/.684, 0 HR, 10 RBI, 57 at-bats
Eduardo Herrera .316/.480/.509, 3 HR, 14 RBI, 57 at-bats
Frank Mieses .333/.469/.438, 48 at-bats
Jefrank Silva .367/.500/.533, 30 at-bats

Orlando Suarez 4.20 ERA, 15 IP, 11 BB, 20 K
Diego Perez 2.45 ERA, 14 2⁄3 IP, 11 BB, 17 K
Albert Muñoz 8.25 ERA, 12 IP, 10 BB, 15 K

As of the end of June, the DSL White Sox are still at square one, as they have won exactly half of their games.

There was stiff competition for the monthly award, as two players were completely dominant, one on each side. On the pitching side, Yobal Rodriguez, 17, was impossible for opposing hitters to solve. In 18 2⁄3 innings, Rodriguez allowed zero runs on four hits, resulting in a 0.38 WHIP and an opposing slash line of .069/.156/.086. This was his first professional month, and Rodriguez did not waste any time making a positive impact. Mercy, what a month.

Outfielder Christian Gonzalez, 18, also made a large impact, finishing 27-for-57 with three triples and six doubles. This was a very encouraging sign from Gonzalez, who found ways to get on base last year but without much pop (.265/.395/.303 in 48 games in 2024, all with the DSL White Sox). Bravo to Gonzalez, who gave the offense plenty of sparks from start to finish.
