Brody Hopkins will represent the Rays at the Futures’ Game

This week’s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Monday.

This was the 14th week of minor league play.

According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), the overall top hitter in the Rays farm system has changed once again. 25-year old Tristan Peters continues to hold the top spot. The Rays originally acquired Peters from the Giants in a 40-man roster deadline deal following the 2022 season. Thus far in 2025, Peters is hitting .306/.398/.483 with 8 HR and 10 SB over 314 plate appearances, registering a 134 wRC+

Meanwhile, Joe Boyle continues to hold the top pitching spot. Boyle had dealt with extreme command issues for his entire career, but seems to have put them behind him now. Entering play on Tuesday, Boyle has a 1.85 ERA | 3.41 FIP with a 32.9 K% & 10.6 BB% over 73 IP.

RUMBLINGS

  • Brody Hopkins has been selected to represent the Rays at the Futures’ Game, the annual showcase of the games top prospects. Hopkins was acquired by the Rays in the Randy Arozarena trade last year. Thus far in 2025, Hopkins has a 3.64 ERA | 3.81 FIP with a 27.3 K% & 13.2 BB% over 71 23 IP in Double-A.
  • Carson Williams was recognized by Baseball America as one of the standout prospects of June. Thus far over 22 games this month, Williams is hitting .293/.389/.610 with 7 HR over 96 PA.
  • Brailer Guerrero was placed on the 7-day Injured List for an unspecified reason on June 24th; Guerrero hadn’t played since June 13th.
  • Nick Bitsko, the Rays 2020 1st round draft pick, made his first appearance since July 9th, 2024. It didn’t go well as Bitsko walked three hitters and allowed a basehit before being removed. Bitsko has now made five appearances over the past two seasons and has allowed six hits (1 HR), 11 walks, and thrown 5 wild pitches over 2 13 IP.
