A’s go for two straight against the Astros

Still buzzing from a walk-off, 447-foot home run by rookie Nick Kurtz, the Athletics hope to keep up the excitement tonight against the Houston Astros at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.

JP Sears, a 29-year-old lefty, will take the mound for the A’s tonight. Sears is currently 5-5 with a 5.08 ERA and fifty-eight strikeouts in fourteen starts this season. He’ll be facing former A’s righty Jason Alexander. All his stats came from his time in an A’s uni in 2025. He’s collected an 18.0 ERA in four games with no record. Alexander was picked up off the waiver wire on May 18 and called up from the Sugarland Space Cowboys yesterday. He’ll face this lineup for Mark Kotsay’s A’s:
