In Mariners news...
- Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench is apparently a huge fan of Cal Raleigh.
- Adam Jude at The Seattle Times caught up with Danny Farquhar, who is thriving in his role as assistant pitching coach with the Mariners.
Around the league...
- In a move that sent shockwaves throughout the league, the Red Sox shipped star infielder Rafael Devers to the Giants in exchange for RHP Jordan Hicks, LHP Kyle Harrison, OF James Tibbs III, and RHP José Bello. The Giants are taking on the entirety of Devers’ salary in the deal.
- The Nationals are calling up top third base prospect Brady House for his MLB debut.
- Rangers youngster Kumar Rocker is coming back up from Triple-A with right-hander Tyler Mahle hitting the injured list with a shoulder injury.
- Rōki Sasaki has been completely shut down from throwing due to an ongoing shoulder issue and he remains without a timeline to return to action.
- Former big leaguer Sean Casey made a cameo appearance in a recent Savannah Bananas game, but he tore his hamstring during the contest.
