Lindor Leads NL Shortstops in All-Star Voting
It has been a point of contention for many Mets fans that Francisco Lindor has yet to make the All-Star team since being traded to New York in 2021. Well, things are one step closer to changing. The results of the first round on Monday revealed the face of the franchise is currently leading all NL shortstops in All-Star Game voting.

Lindor leads all National League shortstops with 1,019,273 votes, nearly twice as many as Mookie Betts, who is currently in second place with 597,188 votes cast in his honor.
While Lindor hasn’t been named to the All-Star team since arriving in Queens, he also has never started a game. The last time he played in an ASG was with Cleveland in 2019, his fourth appearance.
Lindor isn’t the only Met vying for a starting nod. Pete Alonso is currently in second place among NL first basemen, but there’s currently a sizeable distance from him (895,900 votes) and Freddie Freeman (1,136,389 votes). If Alonso were to make the All-Star team, it would be his fifth appearance as a Met, trailing only Darryl Strawberry, Mike Piazza, David Wright and Tom Seaver.
Others in the top five at their position after the first ballot update include Juan Soto, who is fourth among outfielders and just under 60,000 votes short of Teoscar Hernández for a starting spot. Jeff McNeil is in fifth place amongst second basemen (Ketel Marte of the D-backs leads), Francisco Alvarez is third amongst catchers (Will Smith of the Dodgers leads) and Starling Marte is fifth amongst designated hitters (Shohei Ohtani leads).
Phase One of voting finishes June 26 at noon ET. You can vote here to send your Mets to the All-Star Game. The 2025 All-Star Game will take place in Atlanta on July 15.
