TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka baseball team will take part in the 2026 inaugural season of the Midwest Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL).

MCBL Commissioner James Head announced in a press release on Thursday, June 12 that Topeka Stealth will join the MCBL in 2026. The team will pay tribute to service men and women and historic Topeka baseball teams like the Topeka Owls and Topeka Capitals.

The MCBL season will run from late May to early August and have games from Thursday to Sunday.

“We are excited to be able to bring college summer baseball back to Topeka and keep the rich tradition going with good summer, family fun baseball,” Head said.

The opening week for the MCBL will be May 28 to May 31 in 2026. Topeka Stealth will hold promotional giveaways, baseball bingo and family fun nights during the season, according to the press release.

"We got so so much planned for the 2026 season and we can't wait to get underway and bring some exciting baseball back home,” Shawn Smith, owner of Her Game Sports and Managing Partner of the Stealth, said.

Head said the team is seeking a housing coordinator to help place the 28 players in homes within Shawnee County. Those who house players will get a family pass for the entire season, an autographed jersey and up to $150 from the player's family to help cover costs.
