Morning Briefing: Elian Peña To Make DSL Debut Monday

0 5

Good morning, Mets fans!

We hope you all had a great weekend and got to watch the Mets sweep the Rockies!

On Monday, Elian Peña will debut in the Dominican Summer League as a member of Mets Orange. The DSL season kicks off on Monday, which will be the first time we get to see Peña perform as a member of the Mets.

Pena, the eighth-ranked prospect in the Mets organization, signed with the Mets on international signing day in January. The 17-year-old was MLB Pipeline’s third-ranked international prospect. Peña signed a $5 million dollar signing bonus, which took up a vast majority of the Mets alloted $6,261,00 in the international pool, showcasing how much faith the organization has in Pena as a prospect.

Pena will not turn 18 until October, and is not expected to make his MLB debut until 2030.
