The skid of the Columbus Clippers continued on Sunday as they dropped their seventh consecutive game.

They lost despite the best efforts of C.J. Kayfus, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, raising his OPS to .955. Brayan Rocchio also reached base safely twice, doubling and walking while Milan Tolentino went 1-for-3 with a walk.

In his first start since he began stretching back out, Joey Cantillo pitched well, allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 3.0 innings. The Clippers were line to win the game, but Zak Kent had a rough outing, allowing two runs to give up the lead and take the loss.

Akron RubberDucks 1, Somerset Patriots 3

A three-run fourth inning was more than enough for Somerset to defeat Akron on Sunday.

Joe Lampe had the lone extra base hit for Akron, hitting a double. Alex Mooney had the lone multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Rodney Boone took the loss, allowing all three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 3.2 innings.

Jake Miller was terrific out of the bullpen, striking out four in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Tyler Thornton added 2.0 more innings of scoreless relief.

Lake County Captains 6, Cedar Rapids Kernels 7

Like Columbus, Lake County also has been struggling of late, dropping its fifth straight game and seventh out of eight.

Jake Cozart had a big game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Ralphy Velasquez reached base safely three times, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base and Wuilfredo Antunez went 2-for-4.

Josh Hartle had his worst start of the season, allowing five runs on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 4.0 innings. Yorman Gomez allowed one run over the next 3.2 innings while Kyle Scott took the loss, allowing Cedar Rapids to walk off the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Lynchburg Hillcats 3, Fredricksburg Nationals 1

Another day, another stolen base for Tommy Hawke. Hawke reached base safely twice, going 1-for-3 with a double and a hit by pitch, also swiping his MiLB-leading 47th base.

Yaikel Mijares had the lone multi-hit game for Lynchburg, going 2-for-4. Alberto Mendez also reached base safely twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Starting pitcher Sean Matson, a ninth round pick by Cleveland in the 2024 MLB draft, tossed 3.0 shutout innings on one hit with one strikeout and one walk.

Jesus Luna added 3.0 more scoreless innings and Logan McGuire finished off the victory with a scoreless ninth inning.
