Game #40: Athletics vs. Yankees Game Thread
Looking for a bounce back win
One night after losing in embarrassing fashion the A’s will get a chance to even their series with the Yankees as they take on New York on a bright and sunny day in West Sacramento.
The A’s will be hoping lefty JP Sears can be the stopper and give the A’s a chance to beat the team that traded him to us. He’s been the team’s best starter with a 2.93 ERA that he’ll hope to lower, though he’ll have a tough challenge against a tough Yankee lineup.
The starting lineup for a hot Saturday at the ballpark:

Center fielder JJ Bleday will get the afternoon off with a tough left-handed pitcher going for New York. Lawrence Butler will slide over to center and Brent Rooker will get his glove off the shelf and man right field. Catcher Shea Langeliers will get a half-day off as he’ll be the designated hitter today while backup Jhonny Pereda will be behind the plate catching Sears.
The tough lefty on the mound for New York is veteran Carlos Rodon. His first couple of seasons in New York didn’t go smoothly but he’s earning his contract this year posting a 2.96 ERA that is just .03 points higher than Sears’. He’s dominated the A’s in his career but this squad is different than ones he’s faced in the past and hopefully the results will be different too.
