An Updated Look At The Mets’ Betting Market
The New York Mets (24-14) are off to a very good start, owning a 1 1/2-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East as play begins Friday. As a result, more than a few players on the team are trending in the right direction when it comes to betting odds for various awards. Let’s take a look at where the Mets currently stand a little over a month into the 2025 season.

NATIONAL LEAGUE MVP
Pete Alonso (+550), Juan Soto (+1300) and Francisco Lindor (+3000): Alonso’s price to win National League MVP has shifted a ton early on. The Mets’ first baseman opened the season at +5500 to take home the award. Now, he is tied for the third-shortest odds, only sitting behind Shohei Ohtani (+250) and Kyle Tucker (+400). Alonso currently leads with league with 34 runs batted in, a .450 OBP and a 210 OPS+.
If you are looking for a solid value pick, Soto may be your guy. After a somewhat underwhelming start to his time with the Mets, he has turned it on in recent weeks. Over his last 19 games, Soto is slashing .300/.407/.543 with four home runs and 10 runs batted in. Those are the type of numbers you’d expect from a player of his caliber. At +1300, now may be the perfect time to bet on Soto.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CY YOUNG
Kodai Senga (+2000), Tylor Megill (+8000), Clay Holmes (+10000) & Griffin Canning (+20000): Senga is absolutely in the conversation to win a CY Young. In seven starts this season, he is 4-2 with a 1.16 ERA in 38 2/3 innings. His ERA is the best mark in the National League and the second best in baseball, only behind Max Fried (1.05 ERA) of the New York Yankees. At +2000, Senga is a worthwhile long shot to bet on.Megill, Holmes and Canning have all had very good starts to the season. With that being said, it is hard to see any of them truly getting in the mix for this award.

NATIONAL LEAGUE MANAGER OF THE YEAR
Carlos Mendoza (+600): Mendoza currently owns the third shortest odds for Manager of the Year, sitting behind Craig Counsell (+160) of the rejuvenated Chicago Cubs and Bob Melvin (+550) of the San Francisco Giants. In 2024, the Mets manager finished third in voting for this award. A lot of this is dependent on team success and how it compares to the season prior. Both the Cubs and the Giants have come out of the gate exceeding expectations. The odds for Counsell and Melvin are completely understandable. If the Mets wind up winning the NL East, though, Mendoza will be in the mix. Expect to see a lot of movement regarding odds for this award.
