Mets Minors Recap: Binghamton Notches Back-to-Back Walk-Off Wins

Ryan Clifford homered for the second-straight game, A.J. Ewing’s batting average across two levels is .364 after three more hits on Thursday, and the Florida Complex League Mets earned their first victory of the season. The Mets’ affiliates won two, lost two and had one game suspended in the ninth inning due to rain.

Gilbert is 6-for-26 (.231 batting average) in May after hitting .309 in April. The Mets were held to five hits, all singles.

After throwing eight scoreless innings in his first two starts, Hamel has given up 10 earned runs in 10 innings pitched in his last three outings.

Clifford hit his fifth home run of the year, Schwartz went deep too and the Rumble Ponies walked off the Fightin Phils for the second straight night, this time on an error by the center fielder.

Wenninger gave up just two runs covering 20 innings pitched in his first four starts, but in his last two he’s been hit hard: 10 earned runs and 14 hits in 10 2/3 innings pitched.

Gordon has struck out 27 in 25 2/3 innings pitched and has yielded three runs or fewer in each of his six outings.

Every starter in the St. Lucie lineup had at least one hit, but four out of five pitchers gave up at least two runs.

Watson, drafted last June in the seventh round out of USC, has struck out 24 in 21 1/3 innings.

Box Score

Three solo homers helped lead the FCL Mets to their first win of the season. Edward Lantigua, an 18-year-old center fielder from the Dominican Republic, stole two bases and also got picked off.
