White Sox erupt for six early scores in 10-3 win

Hi, my name is Michael A. Taylor, I am hitting worse than .200 but today I had three doubles and three RBIs, so start calling me La Pantera any time you like. | Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images

A’s laid to waste early, Cannon spares pen with 23 outs in “relief”

The punchless White Sox offense got up off the canvas on Saturday and pummeled A’s starter Jeffrey Springs relentlessly, striking for six before Sacramento-Oakland-Las Vegas’ cleanup hitter even made it to the plate.

Although it was outfield mate Luis Robert Jr. who opened the scoring with a solo homer, Michael A. Taylor did his best Roberto Clemente act today, doubling three times, stealing a base, and looking, at age 34, like the prospect that had the baseball world drooling a decade ago:

Those are two of the doubles, MLB seems confuse about whether he hit another double or triple so no dice on tripling up on doubles footage.

It was a lumber fiesta all game long for the White Sox, as eight different players drove in runs, there were two other doubles along with Robert’s homer, and two steals. Heck, the White Sox walked five times in the game, so you know the pregame spread got these fellas antsy to hit.

Flip side, the opener-bulk starter combination worked much better on Saturday than Friday, with Tyler Gilbert again doing his part (1-2-3 first). But Jonathan Cannon took the ball in the second and pitched like he was personally offended to have to start the game warming in the bullpen, because Will Venable had to pry the ball from Cannon’s clammy hands (it was a classic NoCal chill on field today, complete with drizzle) with two outs in the ninth for the final out. Cannon got through 7 2⁄3 innings on a relatively breezy 95 pitches, with three earned of damage. It was a complete game in all of our hearts, Jonathan.
