White Sox Minor League Update: April 25, 2025
Barons take two for one, and Dash upset minor league sweep
Charlotte Knights 4, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 1 (7 innings) (Gameday box) (Statcast box)
After a rain delay, the Knights grabbed the lead and never looked back. Although the lineup struck out 11 times, Charlotte stitched together four runs off of five hits. Tim Elko and Zach DeLoach hit solo homers, and Dominic Fletcher and Corey Julks drove in the last two hits to give the Knights enough firepower to win after a rainy start.
Justin Dunn had a quality start of five innings, three hits, a run, and three strikeouts to get Charlotte going, and Justin Anderson kept the Knights in cruise control with two scoreless innings.
Birmingham Barons 5, Rocket City Trash Pandas 2 (Completion of Thursday’s Game) (Gameday box)
Before Thursday’s rain delay, White Sox top prospect Noah Schultz set the tone with a dominant five innings, allowing no runs on just three hits while striking out five. No Trash Pandas runner advanced beyond second base against the southpaw, who expertly navigated a two-on, one-out jam in the fourth with a timely 4-6-3 double play.

Birmingham broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth. Wilfred Veras singled, swiftly stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Michael Turner drove him in with a single. They added another run in the sixth when Veras walked, stole his second base of the night, and Jacob Gonzalez brought him home with an RBI single.

Rocket City finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, facing reliever Jarold Rosado, plating two runs on a pair of singles, a walk, and a wild pitch. However, the Barons quickly responded in the top of the eighth. Consecutive walks to Veras and Gonzalez were followed by an RBI double from Turner. Oscar Colás then drove in another run with a ground out, extending Birmingham’s lead to 4-2.
Unfortunately, the skies opened up as Shawn Goosenberg stepped up to the plate. Goosenberg only saw three pitches before the game was suspended.

The Barons picked up where they left of the next day, with Goosenberg bat up to bat. As if a day hadn’t gone by, Goosenberg tripled on a line drive to right, extending Birmingham’s lead and driving in the final run for the Barons. All Peyton Pallette had to do was close the game by striking out the side — easy, right? (By the way, he struck out three in the eighth inning, too.)
Birmingham Barons 5, Rocket City Trash Pandas 4 (Friday’s Game) (Gameday box)
Birmingham came away with the win in a close contest. Wilfred Veras’ RBI single gave the Barons a 1-0 lead in the third. Shortly after Adam Hackenberg’s solo home run made the game 2-0, the Trash Pandas tied it with a solo shot of their own and an RBI double.

The Barons fell behind 4-2 in the sixth, but recovered late in the game. Jacob Burke had a run-scoring single to bring Birmingham to within one in the eighth, and Adam Hackenberg doubled two home in the top of the ninth to provide the game-winning runs.
Although none of the pitchers let the game get out of hand, the lineup should be attributed with the win for their outstanding effort to rally late.
Rome Emperors 4, Winston-Salem Dash 1 (Gameday box)
The Dash came off their 16th no-hitter as cool as a cucumber, although they didn’t do as poorly as the scoreboard indicates. While their only run came from Wilber Sánchez’s RBI single in the second inning, the lineup also only struck out seven times. Also, the Dash pulled off some crafty base running that resulted in five stolen bases, including a sweet double steal pulled off by Terrell Tatum and Sam Antonacci in the fifth. But despite having runners on second and third with only one out, Ryan Galanie and Arxy Hernández failed to plate a runner, and the Dash came up with nothing but goose eggs after the second inning.
Starter Jake Bockenstedt didn’t do the Dash many favors during his 5 2⁄3 innings pitched, as he gave up all four of Rome’s four runs and walked four. The bullpen did a good job mopping up the mess with 3 1⁄3 scoreless innings and four strikeouts, but in the end the lineup didn’t do their job to help the bullpen.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 6, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 3 (Gameday box)
Kanny jumped on the Pelicans early with a 3-0 lead in the first off a double from Javier Mogollón sandwiched between the rarest of all hits, triples from Lyle Miller-Green and Ronny Hernandez. Cameron Sisneros tacked another run onto the lead in the fourth with a double to drive in Cole Mathis. After a brief scoring intermission that allowed Myrtle Beach to catch up and make it a one-run game, Kannapolis came back to hit in the seventh. A wild pitch, walk, single, another single, and another single later, the Cannon Ballers padded their lead with the final three runs of the game.
The pitching crew limped through the game together. Gabriel Rodriuguez had a short yet fair start with three hits, a run, four walks, and a strikeout over 3 1⁄3 innings pitched. Manuel Veloz came in after Rodriguez, and while he struck out four he also gave up two runs. Fortunately, the rest of the bullpen pitched Kannapolis through the game despite a separate two-on, one-out jams Carlton Perkins found himself in during the seventh and eighth innings.
