Mariners Game #21 Preview: 4/19/25, SEA at TOR
Mariners play some Canadian Blackjack
The Mariners took two games from the Reds and won their first road series of the season largely by capitalizing on the Reds’ mistakes. Last night they made their own mistakes on the basepaths, running themselves out of some scoring opportunities, something they’ll have to tighten up if they want a chance at winning the series here.
Today’s Lineups:
Today is a scheduled off-day for Julio, so get ready for Miles Mastrobuoni: leadoff hitter. Honestly, Mastrobuoni is a great candidate for the leadoff spot. He consistently works long at-bats, fights off pitches, takes his walks and doesn’t try to do too much, content to slash a single into the outfield. That’s something this team could use some more of, especially out of the top spot. Luke Raley will take over in center at Rodgers Centre, which could be...adventurous.
The Blue Jays will be starting José Berríos, and running out largely the same lineup they did last night.
News:
No real news today, so let’s revisit this play by Ben Williamson last night, which didn’t get enough attention outside of the broadcast (you can’t even find a clip of it on the MLB site).
This play by Ben Williamson needs to get more love. 120.4 mph off the bat for Vlad Guerrero Jr. is his hardest-hit ball ever, the hardest-hit ball in baseball this season, and the 14th-hardest hit ball ever in the Statcast era pic.twitter.com/VrW8yCmfin

Captain’s Log:
Dan Wilson told Rick Rizzs Julio’s day off is to care for him both physically and mentally, after a tough series in Cincinnati, plus the turf in Toronto, which “feels different on the body.”
