Kenya and Uganda advance to African Baseball5 Championship

World No. 15 Kenya defeated No. 30 Uganda in the final (9-3 and 6-1) to claim the East Zone Qualifier for the African Baseball5 Championship.

Kenya hosted the event at the Halstrom Auditorium of the African Nazarene University in Nairobi. No. 24 Tanzania was the third participant.

The Baseball5 African Championship is scheduled for November. WBSC Africa will announce the host Federation later. The top two finishers of the Western Zone and Southern Zone tournaments will compete with Kenya and Uganda for two spots in the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026.

Since the WBSC Executive Board expanded the Baseball5 World Cup and the Youth Baseball5 World Cup from 12 to 16 teams, the continent quota will be as follows:

  • Africa: 2 Teams
  • Americas: 4 Teams
  • Asia: 3 Teams
  • Europe: 3 Teams
  • Oceania: 1 Team
  • Host: 1 Team
  • WBSC: 2 Wild Cards
