Game Thread: Angels at White Sox
With an undefeated season on the line!
The undefeated Chicago White Sox (fun to say, isn’t it?) try to keep the good times rolling against the Angels this afternoon on a pleasantly balmy day for March.
Jonathan Cannon will do the honors, hoping his major misfires in the Cactus League will turn out like theatre folks say, with a lousy rehearsal meaning a solid performance. Cannon’s spring was indeed lousy, with an ERA in double-figures, much of the problem being a complete lack of in-zone command.
The Angels counter with José Soriano, a righty who used his hard sinker to produce an excellent 2024 season, with 155 innings of 3.24 ERA work. Soriano will face a lineup with several changes from Thursday, including Brooks Baldwin — who played all of three games in the outfield in Birmingham last year and five in Kannapolis in 2023 — getting the start in right.
Cannon will be firing at an Angels lineup that again includes a recent Sox teammate, but this time Yoán Moncada instead of Tim Anderson.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Central, with a baseball-perfect 69° and wind blowing from right to left. Usual broadcast suspects, except for the huge number of Comcast subscribers who are still trying to figure out how to get an antenna on their roof to get CHSN.
