LHP Michael McGreevy (0-0, 1.54) vs. RHP Clay Holmes (1-1, 1.29)
SNY
The Mets have been rolling out their A-lineup the last two days on the road, and they’ve routed their opponents while doing so. The Mets are coming off of a 10-3 win where they collected 13 hits against the Washington Nationals. Luis Torrens and Jose Siri picked up three hits and three RBIs each. Kodai Senga and Max Kranick looked great too – vibes are all-around great!
Today, the Mets will play the St. Louis Cardinals for the sixth and final time in the Grapefruit League, with Clay Holmes getting his last warm-up start before Opening Day in Houston. There are only four more games until they count for real!

Game Notes
- As reported by Latino Sports’ Julian Guilarte, manager Carlos Mendoza expects Holmes to “empty the tank” this afternoon ahead of his Opening Day start, which could mean throwing anywhere between 75 to 80 pitchers across five or six innings.
- Left-handed pitcher Danny Young, as well as right-handers Huascar Brazobán and Dedniel Núñez, are scheduled to follow Holmes on the mound.
- The MLB App is now the only way to stream the Mets on SNY. Fans who have access to the channel through their TV package can access it for free, and it’s also available via subscription.
Three Things To Watch For
- Clay Holmes. Holmes has been sensational for the Mets this spring with a 1.29 ERA over 14 innings while striking out 15 batters. Each of his starts have been at least three innings, and in his last outing, he went 4 1/3 frames while allowing two runs on three hits. The start prior to that, Holmes allowed one hit over 3 2/3 innings while striking out eight.
- Mark Vientos at first. Vientos gets the start at first base today with Alonso DH’ing. He is likely the Mets’ No. 1 plan for when Alonso needs a day off from playing in the field. He played four games there in 2024, including two starts, for a total of 25 innings.
- Starling Marte in right. Today is just simply a day to watch the Mets in the field. Marte will be making his first start in right field this spring. He will be a mixture of a DH and No. 4/5 outfielder during the season, mixing in with Juan Soto, Siri, Nimmo, Taylor and Jesse Winker. In 2024, Marte only played nine games as a DH (eight starts) compared to 85 games in right.
Let’s go Mets!
