White Sox throttle A’s in Spring Tune Up
Another tough day at the office
Yet again the A’s got stomped in another spring training matchup. Today they lost to the Chicago White Sox 10-3 as the club falls to 10-7-1 on the year as the regular season nears.
On the bump for the Green & Gold to start today’s game was right-hander Luis Severino. Making just his second start of the spring the likely Opening Day starter looked solid, firing off three innings. While he allowed a pair of runs in the first he settled in, allowing just those two runs. Not the worst outing ever.
After Severino however things started to unravel. Potential rotation arm JT Ginn relieved Sevy but didn’t do himself any favors, allowing four runs over the next 2 2⁄3 innings. Not the greatest showing from someone trying to make the Opening Day rotation.
It just got worse for the A’s from there as Chicago scored four more runs against the A’s. It wasn’t a fun game and the Green & Gold eventually lost 10-3, falling to their AL Central rivals and dropping them to a still respectable 10-7-1 on the season. Still Spring though!
That wasn’t fun. The Athletics gotta get back on the horse tomorrow as they take on the hated Giants. Taking the bump will be lefty Jeffrey Springs. San Fran meanwhile will counter with notorious A’s killer Justin Verlander. Who’s expecting a pitching duel??
