A’s allow 8 runs to Dodgers
MLB’s reigning champions delivered the Athletics their third loss of the preseason. After allowing just two runs in the first five innings, the A’s let the Los Angeles Dodgers tack on another six in the second half of the game.
The A’s got halfway to the Dodgers’ final tally in the last few innings, thought it was driven by a throwing error from pitcher Tanner Kiest. Outside of the runs created by that misplay, Miguel Andujar got the only other when he hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 7th.
Starter JP Sears has a lackluster three innings, giving up a two-run shot to first baseman David Bote. Newcomer Jose Leclerc calmed things down with a clean, two-strikeout inning, followed by another perfect inning from Matt Krook. Unfortunately, the rest of the bullpen faltered and let the Dodgers sprint ahead.
Mitch Spence will take the ball tomorrow against Sean Burke and the Chicago White Sox.
