A’s vs. Reds game thread

The Athletics are back at it today with a game against the Cincinnati Reds.

After pitching 2 scoreless innings against the Rockies on Sunday, Jeffrey Springs will get his second start in an A’s uniform today. Acquired to be a potential frontline starter for the A’s, the southpaw has probably the highest ceiling of the team’s rotation. The only thing that’s holding him back is age and health. Already 32 years old, Springs has only pitched 313 23 innings throughout his whole seven-year career. We all know how quickly worlds can turn upside down for pitchers, but so far, so good this spring.

He’ll match up against another high-ceiling talent in the Reds’ emerging 25-year-old ace Hunter Greene, who finished eighth in NL Cy Young voting last season.

The A’s will continue to mostly start their starters on offense, which has helped them to a 4-1 record so far this spring.

Here’s the Reds’ lineup.
