2025 South Side Sox Top Prospect No. 78: Jurdrick Profar

0 2
Almost a year ago, the White Sox made Jurdrick the third Profar in organized baseball, and his 2024 season sure made it seem like a solid move. | @BenBadler/Twitter

An impressive first campaign for a shortstop who does a little bit of everything

Jurdrick Profar

Shortstop
5´11´´
170 pounds
Age: 17
First Appearance in the South Side Sox Top 100 Prospects
2024 High Level Dominican Summer League (rookie)
Age relative to high level -0.7 years
SSS rank among all shortstops in the system 9
Overall 2024 stats 48 games ⚾️ 3 HR ⚾️ 16 RBI ⚾️ .264/.397/.390 ⚾️ 31 BB ⚾️ 43 K ⚾️ 8-for-16 (50.0%) SB ⚾️ .920 FLD%

The third Profar brother in organized baseball after Jurickson and Juremi, Jurdrick had a solid and productive season in the DSL while manning the second-most challenging position on the field in his majority of games (28 at shortstop). Fourteen of his 42 hits were for extra bases for a solid slugging percentage, and a (not shocking for the DSL) 16.0% walk rate made for an on-base nearly tipping .400. Yes, Profar’s fielding was a bit sloppy and he surely needs to learn how to transmit speed into stolen bases, but we’re talking about a player who started his career at 17 and change.

While not numbers that will push you to the ground, they make for a solid pro start. Knowing there is muscle (and likely height) still to come makes his prospect status positively glisten, however.

Profar’s Baseball Cube player ratings
Runs 72
Hitting 72
Power 63
XBH 60
Contact 59
Speed 57
Average 63.83

Despite his youth, Profar could well advance to Arizona for his first Stateside season, in the ACL. However, given some obvious skills in need of honing (baserunning, fielding) one more year in the DSL and a move to the States still at age 18 in 2026 is not out of the question.
