Chieh-Hsien Chen is the WBSC Premier12 2024 MVP
Chinese Taipei centre fielder and captain Chieh-Hsien Chen earned the WBSC Premier12 2024 presented by RAXUS MVP honours. The 30-year-old Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) veteran had a fantastic tournament.
He went 15-for-24, leading the tournament with a .625 batting average, and had an astonishing 1.617 OPS. Despite having only 33 home runs in nine CPBL seasons, he hit a three-run dinger in the Championship Final.
The WBSC announced after the awarding ceremony the WBSC Premier12 2024 All-World Team.
Six of the 12 participating countries are represented. The United States have the most All-World teamers (4) followed by Japan (3), Venezuela (2), Chinese Taipei and the Netherlands (1).
The All-World Team starting pitcher is Rich Hill (USA), who finished the tournament without allowing a run.
Also the best reliever, Venezuela's Oddaner Mosqueda, didn't allow a run.
Their catcher would be Shogo Sakakura (Japan)
The All-World Team infield includes first baseman Carlos Jesus Perez (Venezuela), Kaito Kozono (Japan) at second, Matt Shaw (USA) at third and shortstop Did Gregorius (Netherlands).
The three outfielders are Chandler Simpson (USA), Chieh-Hsien Chen (Chinese Taipei) and Shota Morishita (Japan).
Ryan Ward (USA) is the All-World Team designated hitter.
Haruto Inoue (Japan) was the pitcher with the best record.
The USA dominated among the power hitters, wth Matt Shaw leading in runs batted in RBIs (14) and Ryan Ward getting the most home runs (5).
The US also led in stolen bases with Chandler Simpson (9).
Shota Morishita scored the most runs (13).
Chieh-Hsien Chen earned the Best Defensive Player award. He didn't commit an error in 13 playing opportunities.
