Why Do Dreams Feel So Real?

Sometimes the dreams we have seem so real. Most of the emotions, sensations, and images we feel and visualize are those that we can say we have seen or experienced in real life. This is because the same parts of the brain that are active when we are awake are also active when we are in certain stages of our sleep.Better said in the movie Inception, “Well, dreams, they feel real while we're in them, right? It's only when we wake up that we realize that something was actually strange.”Our brain goes through two basic types of sleep: non-REM sleep and REM sleep. Though dreaming can occur during any stage of sleep, it typically happens during the REM stage. Reports have shown that people recall more elaborate and vivid dreams during REM sleep. This may explain why it is easier to remember our dreams when we are woken up by a person or by an alarm clock, because our brain is still in REM sleep. So it is easier to remember the dreams rather than waking up on our own where our brain has time...
