Lindor Returns to Mets Lineup
Updated Post – Sept. 25 at 16:05
Mets superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor is back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Braves in Atlanta. He’s in his now-customary leadoff spot and playing shortstop.
Lindor is in the lineup for the first time since Sept. 15. He has been dealing with lower back tightness and was on deck to potentially pinch hit on Tuesday night in the Mets’ 5-1 loss.
The Mets entered Wednesday holding the second Wild Card, though only a half game ahead of the D-Backs and one game over the Braves.

And a collective sigh of relief was heard from Mets fans globally. MVP-candidate shortstop Francisco Lindor received a clean MRI on his back Monday, and expects to be out, “3-5 days.” Lindor noted he could come back quicker, missing only 2-3 days, it all depends on how his back feels.
Lindor exited Friday’s game in Philadelphia after awkwardly pulling into second base. The Mets announced he left with lower back tightness, which kept him out of the lineup Saturday as well. He returned Sunday, but was only able to play an inning, Lindor commenting he felt, “his back acting up on him” while running to first base on a single.
With 13 games left to go, Lindor expects to be back before the season ends. Ideally, he would like to play against the Nationals (series wraps Wednesday), but with the Mets most important series coming up between the Phillies, Braves and Brewers, Friday might be the earliest he plays.
The Silver Slugger expects to restart baseball activities in the next day or two. At the end of the day, it’s a day-to-day injury for Lindor, and that’s how he and the training staff will treat and address it.
While the news doesn’t come at the most ideal time, they seemed to have dodged a bullet with Lindor. Tied with the Braves entering Monday for the final Wild Card spot, the Mets plan to use Jose Iglesias and rookie Luisangel Acuña in the interim to fill the hole left by Lindor.
