Manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that Kodai Senga will throw 1 to 2 innings for Syracuse on Saturday. According to The Athletic’s Tim Britton, the Mets are operating under the belief that he will go five days between appearances, meaning he would likely return to the majors for the final regular season series against the Milwaukee Brewers next weekend.

Mendoza also stated that Francisco Lindor, who was not included in the starting lineup for a fifth-straight game, is expected to attempt baseball activities on Friday. Depending on how it transpires, there is hope that he can play on Saturday afternoon versus the Philadelphia Phillies.

Kodai Senga hopes to pitch for Triple-A Syracuse this weekend and return to the Mets next week, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. However, Senga said he won’t return unless he is 100 percent.

“I’ve been working my tail off,” Senga said through an interpreter, according to DiComo. “I need to make this work.”

Senga has been sidelined since leaving his only start for the Mets on July 26 when he hurt his left calf getting out of the way of a pop up. He missed the first half of the season recovering from a shoulder injury.

In other injury news, Francisco Lindor was running and playing catch in the Citi Field outfield before Wednesday night’s game with the Washington Nationals, but he was not in the starting lineup. Lindor is day-to-day with a sore back.
