A chance to clinch the series in Anaheim

Would you believe me if I told you with a win today, the Mariners would finish August at 13-13? Hasn’t it felt like a hell of a lot worse than that? With a surging Bryan Woo on the mound and coming off a strong 9-5 victory last night, the nebulous concept of momentum appears to be on Seattle’s side.

Lineups:

You might notice a name you haven’t seen in quite some time at the hot corner for the Mariners tonight: Luis Urías will make his first appearance with the big league club since May 23rd. Urías didn’t exactly wow at the plate in the first two months of the year with an unsightly .152 batting average en route to a 75 wRC+, but he’s been on a tear in Tacoma the last month or so, and with the Angels starting a lefty in old friend Tyler Anderson, he’ll have a second chance to show that he’s not done just yet. To make room for Urías, Gabe Speier was optioned to Tacoma while recently acquired utilityman Terrin Vavra was DFA’d.

Game Info:

Tonight’s first pitch will be at 6:38pm - stupid Angels and their aversion to round numbers. Dave Sims and Mike Blowers will have the call on the friendly confines of ROOT Sports, while Rick Rizzs and Aaron Goldsmith will broadcast the action on 710 AM Seattle Sports.
