Morning Briefing: CT Scan Negative on Paul Blackburn’s Right Hand

0 2

Good morning, Mets fans!

After exiting Friday night’s game with an apparent right hand injury, according to Tim Healey of Newsday, a CT scan was done on Paul Blackburn’s hand on Saturday and the scan was negative, showing no fracture, just a bad bruise. Blackburn hopes to avoid the injured list and hopes to make his next state; it’s all dependent on his pain level day-to-day.

The Mets, meanwhile, had a dominant 7-1 win Saturday night to bounce back from an ugly loss on Friday. Francisco Lindor hit two home runs, and David Peterson turned in 7 1/3 strong innings. Now up 2-1 in the series, the Mets will look to win the series Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

Wild Card Update

The Braves beat the Nationals 4-2, scoring four unanswered runs. So the Mets held steady at 2.5 games behind Atlanta for the third Wild Card.

The first Wild Card, Arizona, won its fifth consecutive game to stay 3.5 games ahead of the Braves. The Padres’ loss to the Mets made them two games above the Braves.
