A’s vs. Giants game thread

Looking for a sweep in the final Bay Bridge Series

After taking last night’s game on the power of four home runs, the Athletics are in prime position to secure the series sweep in what will be the final Bay Bridge Series likely ever.

Taking the mound for the Green & Gold tonight is right-handed veteran Ross Stripling. A former Giant just last year, Stripling will be making his second start since returning from the IL. His first start, which he made last week against the Angels, didn’t go smoothly as he allowed five runs in the second inning, but shut down Los Angeles other than that disaster inning. He’ll be hoping to avoid that blowup frame tonight as he continues to right the ship on his season.

The Oakland lineup that’ll be backing him up tonight:

Fairly standard lineup that the A’s have settled on. The lefties JJ Bleday and Seth Brown are back in there, taking over for right-handed hitters Daz Cameron and Tyler Nevin. The switch-hitting Abraham Toro also rejoins the starting lineup for Brett Harris at the hot corner tonight.

That lineup will face Giants ace Logan Webb tonight. Webb, who finished second in Cy Young voting last year, hasn’t had nearly the same success this season as last. He’s been especially vulnerable over his past seven starts as he has a 5.23 ERA in that time frame. Let’s not let the righty get back on track against our A’s tonight.

The San Francisco lineup:

Thankfully we won’t have to face old friend Mark Canha after the Giants just acquired him. We will be seeing former third baseman Matt Chapman again though.

Let’s go A’s! A series sweep to finish the Bay Bridge Series is one heck of a way to go out.
