Mets Trade For RHP Huascar Brazobán

0 0

The New York Mets have acquired right-handed pitcher Huascar Brazobán from the Miami Marlins, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes. The Mets have sent the Marlins infield prospect Wilfredo Lara in return.

Brazobán has been incredible in the month of July for the Marlins, not allowing a run in 13.2 innings. He has a great mix of pitches, rotating between cutter, change-up, and sinker while occasionally mixing in a four-seam. He is now the fourth bullpen piece added prior to Tuesday’s trade deadline, joining Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek, and Tyler Zuber.

Brazobán is 34, but he also has four more years of control after this one. He’s a piece that can stick past this year.

In return, the Mets sent the 20-year-old Lara to Miami. Lara hit .244 in 283 at-bats this season for the High-A Affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones. He was Mike Mayer’s No. 35 prospect on the Mets.

Zuber and Brazobán will join Maton and Stanek in bolstering the team’s bullpen. Edwin Diaz remains at the helm, and Dedniel Nuñez, Reed Garrett and Sean Reid-Foley should all be back by mid-August. Stearns has built a strong bullpen for the home stretch.
