Report: Mets Showing Trade Interest in Michael Conforto

0 10

The Mets are showing interest in a reunion with outfielder Michael Conforto, per Mike Puma of the New York Post. Conforto, who is in the midst of his second season with the San Francisco Giants, is slashing .226/.298/.415 on the year with 10 home runs and 17 doubles across 299 plate appearances.

Puma reports that New York is interested in adding a left-handed bat at the trade deadline. Coupled with a clear need for an upgrade in the outfield, Conforto feels like an ideal fit for the club on several fronts. He was a Met from 2015 to 2021, hitting 132 home runs while slashing .255/.356/.468 over 752 games. He also hit three postseason homers for the Mets in 2015, two of which came in Game Four of the World Series.

Conforto could slot into right field and play on a regular basis as Starling Marte remains out with a bone bruise in his right knee. The Mets have gone with a combination of Jeff McNeil, Tyrone Taylor and DJ Stewart in his absence, though Conforto could quickly rise to the top of the pecking order should New York bring him in.
