This was the Johnathan Rodriguez show. The slugging right fielder went 4-for-4 at the dish with two runs batted in and three runs scored.

Jose Tena also had a huge game, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two stolen bases.

Other standouts included George Valera, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, four runs batted in and a sacrifice fly; Gabrial Arias, who went 2-for-4, and Bryan Lavastida, who went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.

Starting pitcher Logan Allan allowed four runs on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 5 13 innings. The bullpen was decent, but Andrew Walters locked things down with a perfect ninth inning that included a pair of strikeouts to earn his fifth save at Triple-A. After some initial struggles upon being promoted to Columbus, Walters has gone 11 straight appearances without giving up a run. He could be ready to join the Guardians’ bullpen any moment now.

A late bullpen implosion cost Akron a chance at victory on Tuesday.

Starting pitcher Aaron Davenport allowed two runs on four hits in 4 23 innings. He struck out six and walked two. Magnus Ellerts followed with an impressive 1 13 innings, striking out three in his Double-A debut.

Davis Sharpe, however, allowed three runs in 1 13 innings of work to take the loss.

No one had a multi-hit game or reached base safely twice for Akron, but four different players hit home runs, including Milan Tolentino, Petey Halpin, Alexfri Planez and Yordys Valdes.

Lake County Captains 3, Great Lakes Loons 4

Lake County had a lead heading into the ninth inning, but pitcher Zane Morehouse couldn’t hold it. Morehouse allowed two runs on a hit, a walk and a fielding error by Jose Devers to blow the save and take the loss.

Before that, Trenton Denholm impressed with two runs allowed on five hits in 4 13 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Zach Jacobs, Jay Driver and Steven Perez combined for 3 23 scoreless innings of relief, with Jacobs striking out three.

Offensively, Cooper Ingle and Maick Collado both went 2-for-4. Guy Lipscomb went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and a hit by pitch. Devers walked twice while Isaiah Greene doubled.

Lynchburg Hillcats 1, Columbia Fireflies 3

Believe it or not, Lynchburg actually led this game for the first three innings after Jaison Chourio homered in the first frame.

That was it for the offense, however, as the only player to reach base safely twice was Christian Knapczyk, who went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Starting pitcher Yorman Gomez held his own, allowing three runs on three hits in 4 23 innings wile striking out four and walking three.

The bullpen had a rough day at the office, however as Kendeglys Virguez, Robert Wegielnik and Abel Brito were tattooed for three, three and four runs, respectively in just 2 23 total innings of work to put the game completely out of reach.

ACL Guardians 7, ACL Reds 2

Box Score · Guardians improve to 25-33

A rehabbing Chase DeLauter helped put the ACL Guardians on top with a home run in the first inning.

Other offensive standouts included Yaikel Mijares, who went 2-for-5 with a home run and Jose Cedeno, who went 2-for-4 with a home run. Luis Merejo went 1-fo-3 with a double and a walk while Jonathan Martinez went 2-for-5 with a double and Barrett Riebock went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Starting pitcher Austin Aldeano allowed one run (zero earned) on four hits with three strikeout sand a walk in four innings.

Tommy Vengimiglia, Julio Zapata and Jose Ramirez (19-year-old from Venezuela) combined for four shutout innings to close out the victory.
