Alice Lloyd College Hosts Summer Orientation

0 0

On Saturday, July 13th, Alice Lloyd College welcomed over 600 people to Pippa Passes. The College hosted nearly 200 incoming students and their families during our annual Summer Orientation.

During summer orientation, students received their class schedules and important IT information. They also met with representatives from the College’s numerous clubs, organizations, athletic teams, degree programs, and the Student Work Office.

President Jim Stepp and Vice President for Academic Affairs Charles Marshall officially welcomed students and their families to campus in the Perry Campus Center’s main gymnasium. A panel of ALC staff then led the students through a series of assemblies designed to demonstrate what students can expect during their first year at ALC. The program included information about the College’s professional dress requirements, convocation series, and student work program.

Following the assemblies, students gathered in groups for guided tours of campus. On these guided tours, students learned about their new home on Purpose Road. Students were familiarized with the campus buildings and classrooms and played a bit of ALC trivia. To get to know one another better, the incoming students met in the meadow and played games before lunch was served by the Hunger Din.

Logan Schmidt of Cincinnati, Ohio, loved meeting new people during orientation and can’t wait to move in in August and make new friends. Madison Haddix from Breathitt County, Kentucky, enjoyed learning about all of the opportunities ALC provides for students and can’t wait to begin classes and meet new people. From Beattyville, Kentucky, Allison Raines felt welcomed by the friendly ALC faculty and staff.

We are excited to have everyone back on campus in August and cannot wait for the semester to start!
